Paying for treatments or services that don't offer real value for patients is a pervasive problem in the United States, with as much as $340 billion being spent on low-value or unnecessary care alone. With health care spending projected to reach nearly 20% of GDP in the next decade, eliminating low-value care and the associated costs to our health care system is becoming increasingly critical.
Building upon previous efforts aimed at reducing low-value care, partners of the Going Below The Surface Forum (GBTS) have developed a roadmap to guide health care stakeholders as they consider and implement low-value care interventions. This first of a series of webinars on the topic will assist in defining and understanding low-value care and its importance to various stakeholders.
