National Pharmaceutical Council adds to Executive Leadership team, names Kimberly Westrich Chief Strategy Officer

Washington, D.C. – The National Pharmaceutical Council (NPC) announced a new member of the executive leadership team to continue the organization’s work conducting and communicating research about the value of medicines and the importance of supporting innovation and access.

Kimberly Westrich, MA, rejoins NPC as Chief Strategy Officer and will report directly to NPC President and CEO John M. O’Brien, PharmD, MPH. Ms. Westrich will provide strategic guidance to NPC’s policy research and communications activities, mentor NPC researchers and fellows, and lead several research initiatives across NPC’s portfolio, including continuing her highly-regarded work in value and access.

“Kimberly has built deep relationships within the research community and has extensive expertise conducting and communicating evidence-based research,” said Dr. O’Brien. “I’m delighted that she is rejoining NPC and also look forward to her using her coaching and wellness skills to make NPC an even better place to work.”

“It is a joy to return to NPC in this new role and I’m eager to help make our research and communications as relevant and impactful as possible, particularly as we mark our 70th year,” said Ms. Westrich. “There has never been a more important time for NPC’s work, and I’m looking forward to working closely with the NPC team, our members, and stakeholders including the employer community on the important issues facing healthcare leaders.”

Ms. Westrich has published extensively on issues related to value assessment frameworks, patient-centered formulary and benefit design, value-based contracts, quality performance measurement, and accountable care organizations. She began her NPC career in 2000. She has also served as Director of Research at the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), worked as a healthcare consultant at The Lewin Group and Xcenda, and as a health economics and outcomes researcher at Johnson & Johnson.
