WASHINGTON, DC (May 16, 2011) -- The National Pharmaceutical Council (NPC) today congratulated Joe V. Selby, MD, MPH, on his appointment as executive director of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI).
“The appointment of an executive director is an important step for PCORI. Dr. Selby’s appointment will enable the organization to move forward with key organizational, staffing and research decisions,” said Dan Leonard, president of NPC.
As the first executive director of this newly formed organization, Dr. Selby and the PCORI board of governors have an opportunity to shape the framework for determining CER priorities, develop sound standards and methodologies for data and research, and translate research results in a useful and understandable way.
“His unique experience as a physician, clinical epidemiologist and health services researcher makes him well-suited to lead this organization,” added Leonard. “We look forward to working with Dr. Selby in his new role.”
