National Pharmaceutical Council Expands Policy and Research Staff

WASHINGTON, DC (January 4, 2012) -- The National Pharmaceutical Council (NPC) announced the hiring of Daryl Pritchard, PhD, as the Director of Policy Research and Matthew Grabowski as a Research Associate. Both will report to Robert Dubois, MD, PhD, NPC’s Chief Science Officer.

“This represents a significant expansion of our research and policy capabilities and comes at a critical time for NPC as the comparative effectiveness research agenda is on the verge of breaking out into the mainstream,” said Dan Leonard, NPC President.

Pritchard joins NPC from the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) where he was the Director, Personalized Medicine and Research Programs Advocacy. At BIO he helped lead the organization in the development of policy positions and legislative and regulatory strategies that advanced regulatory and reimbursement pathways in the area of personalized medicine. He received his PhD in Genetics from The George Washington University. Grabowski comes to NPC from Michigan, where he was a fiscal analyst for the state legislature, focusing on health issues for members of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Community Health. He has a master’s degree in public policy from Georgetown University.

“I am excited to have Daryl and Matt joining our staff as we continue our efforts to educate and inform the public, policymakers and opinion leaders about the appropriate uses of biopharmaceuticals and the clinical and economic value of innovation. The CER agenda is the latest challenge we face as we continue our mission to help ensure that patients have access to high quality care,” said Dr. Dubois. “We need to get this issue right, and Daryl and Matt will add to our efforts.”
