Washington, DC, August 19, 2013—National Pharmaceutical Council (NPC) President Dan Leonard today released the following statement about the appointment of Richard Kronick, PhD, as the new director of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ):
“Dr. Kronick joins AHRQ at a time of significant investment and interest in comparative effectiveness research. AHRQ has an important role in this effort because it is tasked with translating and disseminating all of the research generated by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute grants.
“Done well, these efforts can help to get the right information into the hands of health care decision-makers and help to improve patient health outcomes.
“We wish Dr. Kronick well in his new role at AHRQ and look forward to working with him in tackling these challenges.”
