What information do payers feel they need to guide their coverage decisions? Jennifer Graff, PharmD, vice president of comparative effectiveness research at the National Pharmaceutical Council (NPC), will address this question during an AcademyHealth EDM Forum webinar on Thursday, June 9, at 2:00 pm ET.
Dr. Graff will be joined by Raj Sabharwal, MPH, director at AcademyHealth, and Brian Sweet, BS Pharm, MBA, president and CEO of Applied Health Outcomes, in a panel discussing evidence that payers need. Mr. Sabharwal will discuss “Developing Evidence That Is Fit for Purpose: A Framework for Payer and Research Dialogue,” a joint AcademyHealth and NPC research project. The study describes efforts to develop and refine a decision-making framework that considers payers’ perspectives on the utility of evidence generated by different types of research methods, including real-world evidence. He will provide insight into the decision-making framework.
Dr. Graff will address conditions under which more evidence is needed by payers and provide perspective on the type of evidence wanted to meet this need. Mr. Sweet will talk about techniques to engage multiple stakeholder groups in developing real-world evidence that can support payer decision-making, and how this evidence was used in his previous experience at a health plan.
Register to attend this webinar, which is part of the AcademyHealth’s EDM Forum series, “Better Evidence. Better Decisions. Better Health.” Other webinar topics in the EDM Forum series include electronic Clinical Quality Measures, and clinical decision support and user experience.
