NPC Vice President of Comparative Effectiveness Research Dr.

NPC Vice President of Comparative Effectiveness Research Dr. Jennifer Graff will participate in a panel discussion, “Incentives and Policy Options for Improving a Shared Infrastructure,” on Friday, March 4, at 10:00 am ET at Duke-Margolis Center for Health Policy’s conference, “Enhancing the Application of Real-World Evidence in Regulatory Decision-Making.” The event will focus on opportunities for enhancing the use of real-world evidence (RWE) across a number of potential regulatory decisions, including within the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s regulatory framework.

Dr. Graff will highlight promising avenues for realizing a 21st Century evidence development system and discuss both short- and long-term strategies for moving toward an ideal national system, which will be described in the day’s opening session. She and her fellow expert panelists will address the following questions:

  • What additional incentives are needed to encourage generation of more robust and reliable RWE in the postmarket?
  • How can improvements to the connectivity and scalability of research and data collection methods help to achieve these ends?
  • Are there specific policy levers that should be pursued in order to bolster infrastructure improvements?

Dr. Graff will be joined by Drs. Ed Pezalla, national medical director of pharmacy policy and strategy at Aetna, and Rachael Fleurence, program director of the Research Infrastructure program at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute.
