Jacquelyn (Jackie) McRae, PharmD, MS is the Vice President of Policy and External Affairs at the National Pharmaceutical Council (NPC), which drives research on the value of pharmaceutical innovation and actively communicates its mission and research to the public. In this role, Dr. McRae is responsible for bridging the communication, policy, and research portfolios of NPC through strategic communications and health policy activities. Dr. McRae also drives NPC’s comprehensive engagement with key external audiences on pressing health policy and research initiatives.
Prior to joining NPC, Dr. McRae served as Director of Policy and Research at Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA). Dr. McRae worked alongside key stakeholders to advance PhRMA’s Health Equity Initiative, including driving health equity-relevant research for the organization and leading key strategic policy and research initiatives around the value of biopharmaceutical innovation. Prior to PhRMA, Dr. McRae was a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. In this role, Dr. McRae lectured students on health policy, served on the Board of the Maryland Public Health Association, and authored numerous peer-reviewed publications on health economics and public health. Dr. McRae was also awarded a grant from PhRMA to develop research on the intersection of quantifying the value of medicines and health disparities. Prior to pursuing graduate school, Dr. McRae developed health economics and health policy-relevant research as a Post-Doctoral Fellow of Health Economics and Outcomes Research, which was supported by Janssen Scientific Affairs and Thomas Jefferson University.
Dr. McRae started her training at Norfolk State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. Dr. McRae also trained at Mercer University College of Pharmacy and Thomas Jefferson University, receiving a Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Science in Applied Health Economics and Outcomes Research, respectively.
As a pharmacist, researcher, and communicator with a knack for creativity – Dr. McRae works to fulfill her personal mission of advancing the health of the nation, particularly the underserved.
