Julie Patterson, PharmD, PhD, is Senior Director of Research and Director of the NPC Enterprise Lab at the National Pharmaceutical Council (NPC). Prior to joining NPC, she served as an Assistant Professor in Pharmacoeconomics and Health Outcomes at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy. In her academic role, she directed an extensive research program in pharmacoeconomics, drug value and pricing, and patient preferences, in addition to teaching Doctor of Pharmacy and graduate students. She also served as the Director of the VCU-Indivior Health Economics and Outcomes Research Postdoctoral Fellowship program.
Prior to her role at VCU, Dr. Patterson worked in health economics and outcomes research in the pharmaceutical industry. She collaborated with market access and health policy teams to generate and summarize scientific evidence supporting expanded access to evidence-based treatments. During her time in the industry, she also served as an adjunct professor in the Department of Health Studies at the University of Richmond.
Dr. Patterson earned her Doctor of Pharmacy and PhD from the VCU School of Pharmacy, during which time she received a PhRMA Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship, Express Scripts Foundation Scholarship, and won the Research Award as a Pharmacy Quality Alliance-CVS Health Foundation Scholar.
