Tyler D. Wagner, PharmD, PhD

Associate Director of Research

Tyler D. Wagner, PharmD, PhD, is an Associate Director of Research for the National Pharmaceutical Council (NPC). Before joining NPC, Dr. Wagner served as a research assistant with the Center for Pharmacy Practice Innovation at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). In this position, he collaborated with colleagues to execute real-world evidence studies utilizing electronic health record data. Areas of focus include quality measures, health services research, primary care, prescribing patterns, and pharmacoeconomics.

Dr. Wagner is passionate about using real-world data and evidence to improve population health outcomes and to determine the value of medicines to inform decision making by key stakeholders. During his career, Dr. Wagner’s professional experiences span independent and community pharmacy, health system pharmacy, drug information, and research and consulting centers.
 
Dr. Wagner earned his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of South Carolina and PhD from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy, during which he received three grants from the American Foundation of Pharmacy Education and served as the global student network chair for The International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR). Dr. Wagner currently serves in various leadership roles with both ISPOR and the American Pharmacists Association (APhA). On a personal note, he enjoys hiking, playing pickleball, and traveling with his family.
